Our Story
The Honig Foundation est. 2021

The Honig Foundation was established in 2021 and is built on decades of hard work, resilience, and opportunity created by an immigrant family who arrived in Sydney with very little after fleeing the horrors of the Holocaust during World War II.
The Foundation is named in honour of the founding Director’s maternal grandmother, Margaret Honig, who arrived in Australia in 1949 with her surviving family.
Following the passing of the founder in 2023, the Foundation is now managed by family and close friends who continue his enduring legacy of giving back to the community that supported his family and offered new opportunities that were denied to them in their homeland.
The Foundation remains deeply committed to creating opportunities for disadvantaged members of the community who face limited choices, empowering them to live better, healthier, and more secure lives in Australia. This mission is supported by funding eligible organisations that deliver impactful programmes and services for Australians, offering dignity, hope, and security, values that everyone should expect in this lucky country.
