Our Story
The Honig Foundation est. 2021

Grounded in family history and shaped by resilience across generations, The Honig Foundation carries forward a deeply personal legacy of giving back to the community.
The Honig Foundation was established in 2021, built on decades of hard work, resilience, and opportunity by an immigrant family who arrived in Sydney with very little, having fled the horrors of the Holocaust during World War II in Europe.
The Foundation is named in honour of the founding Director’s maternal grandmother, Margaret Honig, who, along with her surviving family, arrived in Australia in 1949.
Following the passing of the founder in 2023, the Foundation is now managed by family and friends who continue his enduring legacy of giving back to the community that supported his family and provided new opportunities that were denied to them in their homeland.
The Foundation remains deeply committed to creating opportunities for disadvantaged members of the community who face limited choices, empowering them to live better, healthier, and more secure lives in Australia. This mission is carried out by funding eligible organisations that deliver programs and support with a positive impact on Australians, offering dignity, hope, and security, values everyone should expect in this lucky country.
